Taking songs off friends computer

HI im new to the ipod and this forum i tried to search and i read the FAQs maybe i missed it but here goes. I have a 3G 20 gig ipod and im using itunes with windows Xp. I would like to put many songs from my friends extensive library to my ipod. First how will his compute rrecognize my ipod. Second if i do get his songs on there what will happen when it is synced up wiht my computer afterwards. I read the thread about putting files from the ipod to computer. Id really appreciate the help and im sorry if this has already be awnsered.

If you plug your iPod into your friends computer, it should show up as an external hard drive. You can drag his files into the iPod folder. However, you can't play these songs just yet on your iPod. The music on your iPod is in a hidden folder, so you would have to drag the files from your iPod folder into iTunes and then sync. Hope this helps.
