I'm sure I read somewhere that when you sync an iPod with a Mac, the iPod updates its internal clock to match the Mac's clock.

Do Windows iPods do this too?

I have never set my clock because I never felt the need. When I autosynch with itunes what info does it use for last played?

that's the problem, I've noticed that when your iPod clock and date are not set correctly, last played information and star rating will always sync according to iTunes, and not your iPod...simply because according to the iPod, last time you've played a certain track is way in the past (standard time after iPod restore is 2002 or something).

I think you will always lose any data from the iPod (it clearly says in the manual that when you sync, it will always uses the most recent date) and you will not be able to use the calendar function on the iPod (which isn't that good, but hey, you never know when it could come in handy)

Just set your time & date on the iPod, it's a small effort, but a lot easier in the long run
