I have just copied my entire CD collection onto my IPod. Now, I would like to back it up on CD-R disks. I assumed that I could save these files as MP3 files and be able to save roughly 150-200 songs onto each CD. (4 megs x 175 songs = 700 megs)

The problem is that, since I saved these through ITunes as AAC files, it no longer looks at these files in the same way (duh).

I have about 2,700 songs today - I'd expected to need 15-20 CDs for backup, but it looks like as it stands I'd need about 150! No way will I do that obviously.

What is my best solution under CD-R or am I stuck? If there is no better option under CD-R, what are next best options?

Should (can) I convert these files back to MP3s if needed? If so how?

All help appreciated.

I cant recommend converting the songs back to mp3 as you will lose a fair bit of quality unless you want to rip your collection again. You could put them on dvd if you have a dvd r player

Why would you need 150 if you think you need 15 - 20? Just burn the aac files straight to a cd, I don't understand the problem.

I needed to save them to CD-R as "data file", not "MP3 file". MP3 file burning only allowed about 15 songs per CD, while data file allowed about 180 per. Problem solved.
