I can't see the files on my iPod.
The playlists and whathaveyou are all there but no files (ie tracks) are listed, although they do exist on the iPod. I've tried rebuilding and reformatting, but to no avail.
What's happened?:(

Which version of ipod do you have? I have a similar problem since the latest build (174) of MC9--I skipped the previous two versions. I fear that something is wrong with the new ipod plugin w/r to it's function to the older ipods. I've posted a message over at Jriver, already have a reply--it'll get fixed soon (I hope) so hang in there...

I tried updating and getting the new plug-in...and now MC9 doesn't work with my iPod at all and crashes!

Palazzo,
If you haven't already, and you've got the time, post your problem on the Media Center 9 Message board at Jriver:
http://www.musicex.com/cgi-bin/yabb/YaBB.cgi
They are working on it--but every post helps!!
EDIT: If you're running windows ME, they found the bug and are working on fixing it. If you are running something other than Windows ME, then I'd recommend posting your problem and system info over at Jriver. They'll hopefully have the problem fixed as it pertains to Windows ME today or tomorrow.

I'm running XP, but I tried the new plug-in anyway, but it still crashes, with a little error box which just says 'h.'
It's too late for me to go through all the registration at jriver though - I'm too tired!
Tomorrow.

OK, I've registered, waited for my password...and asked my question...seven hours ago...
Be patient my friend. They will respond to you--one thing to keep in mind is that they are VERY busy over there, but I have yet to have a problem not get fixed by them. Heck, they even fixed our cat....

OK, I'm calm.
It's just that I've just been spoilt by the internet bringing me into contact with more US companies these past few years who seem so much better at the whole customer service thing than we Brits.
Does your cat now synch with your iPod then?
Jeff
Actually our cat has a Nomad jukebox Zen...Oh well, I've always been more of a dog person anyway.
Did you already try Steve's suggestion w/r to the corrupted database? If that didn't do it, keep plugging away, they'll get it fixed for you.
In the meantime, if you haven't already, try ephpod until MC9 is working again...:D

Ephpod? Like one roller skate when you've got used to Renault Twingo.
Yep, the advice sorted my crashing problem, thank goodness.
But I still had my original problem - I was still not getting the tracks showing up on the iPod, so I poked around and found the 'Show all files/Show queued files only' toggle and that it was set to show only queued. I mention this as it's just at the top of the right-click menu and can be (and probably was) clicked on accidentally. The result is a seemingly unpopulated iPod.
Thanks to all, and good night from London.

Oh man Palazzo, I always forget about that. I can't tell you the number of times I've been stumped by that. One always jumps to the most complex problems and forgets to look for simple causes.
I have a new mantra: "Have you checked for 'Show Queued Files Only', have you checked for 'Show Queued Files Only'"
I will repeat this all night.... ;)
