View Full Version : Has anyone found a case that is protective and functional?

My God - it seems like every case out there is either solely for carrying the touch (i.e. you have to take it out of the case to use it), or is functional but insanely cheap and appears as though it couldn't be a worse waste of money.

Vaja's initial offering is unbelievably disappointing, and the only other case I've seen that looks to be decent is from Griffin: http://www.griffintechnology.com/products/elanformtouch/

...but of course it still won't be available for another 3-4 weeks.

So, has anyone found a decent case to protect and use their touch?

I've decided to stop looking for 2-3 weeks and then shop around. Good cases are coming, but it's a long wait. I guess a little bag/pouch is easier to make than something that's form-fitting.

I just don't understand this whole case debacle at all.

Did Apple just not give 3rd parties any time with the device (or even the dimensions of the device) prior to release?

I've read that it took them by surprise. Since Nano and Classic cases are out, I don't know why else the Touch cases would take so long. With demand the way it is, if I were a case-maker I'd be hurrying to enter the market.

Indeed, though this is probably also what is so disappointing about the initial Vaja offering - it's just very, very clear that they wanted to get something out and rushed out one of the most pointless cases I have ever seen.

I'm least impressed by the sleeves you can buy. Even without sewing skills, I could sew one of those. You could probably cut the top half off a cloth glasses case and get something like it.

I bought my case from zCover, a company based outta Richmond, BC. for the most part, it's doing what it's supposed to do. however, one gripe is that the corners are rounded and obstruct the tiniest of viewing space. oh also the hole for the headphone out is small, which seems to favour earphones w/ straight plugs; my ES2s have a L-shaped plug and presses against the case. I made a minor cut into the hole to accomdate L-shaped plugs and now all is well.

I'm still waiting for griffin to release their cases, but I'm weary that the space they leave for the headphone out might only be fitted for stock iPod earphones.

Has anyone had any experience with the Piel Frama cases? I'm thinking of giving up on waiting for Vaja and just going with one of theirs, but I'd really like to know how solid they are before settling.

Piel Frama makes a good case, almost as high quality as Vaja's best.

BUT, as I posted elsewhere to no response, take a look at Fortte too. They have 5 leather cases coming out for the Touch. Their quality is on par with PF, and the pricing is very reasonable. I personally like the one that opens like a book.

I own a Fortte case for my old Palm PDA...it's very nicely made.

I saw this post and joined in because I am in the case business and want to find out what people are looking for. The reason I haven't gotten a case to market yet is because we specialize in hard case solutions and functionality while in the case. All the hard cases I've seen for iPhone and iTouch don't offer screen protection and that is a concern to me. Does anyone have some suggestions for the perfect hardcase? I would appreciate the feedback. Thank you!
