iPhone's. It is much more durable, yet it still looks really good.

I definitely prefer the iPhone's backing more. I was very disappointed to see Apple chose to use the easily scratchable chrome backing on the iPod touch.

iPhone's back is way better and more durable.

I like the look of the Touch backing better than the iphone backing. However as everyone said, it is not as strong, so i can't really answer that.
Aesthetically: Touch wins
Durability and Usability without Scratches: iPhone backing

The Chrome backing on my iPod touch especially because I have a Invisible Shield on. No scratches or smudges. Sexy as hell.

The backing on the Touch.
If my older iPods are anything to go by, it's something you worry about scratching at first and you then just get to the point where you no longer care.

i think the touch looks better (im a sucker for the original shiny backside)
but as far as durability is concerned, the iphone wins hands down. no scratches.
im one of those guys who minutely scrutinizes his beloved gadgets with special light just to see if theres the tiniest of hairline scratches. cant stand as much as a speck of dust, leave alone scratches!
hehe :P

Never seen an iPhone, but the back has to be better than the chrome. The chrome on iPods look really cheesy, especially so on the touch.

I like the chrome. It marks the touch as part of the iPod line, and since I have an invisible shield on it, I don't worry about scratches or smudges. I think it would have been cool if the touches home screen looked like an old school iPod-a click wheel on the screen and the typical menu. The rest could have stayed the same, but it would have been a neat call back to the historic iPod look.

I'd go for touch. Although its easier to scratch, ive always seen the shiny metal back as an essential part of an I pod and I'm gutted with what they've done with the Janos and iPod classics
