I have a beautiful set up in my home office. Very Apple like...warm, minimilstic and features a 23 inch Apple Monitor which plugs into my MBP which i have linked to Onkyo Stereo amp which pushes two B&W speakers all nicely placed without any mess or clutter.. Topped off with a plasma TV to my right....im grateful for this set up and know i worked long and hard to afford the set up up my dreams.
However, since getting this little slim 8mm Touch...I sit at my desk chair and prefer surfing the web, while listening to music on my headphones and when i have time to watch movies...i still use the touch.
My gf walked in the other day, found me sitting at my desk leaning back typing feverishly on my touch. I looked up and saw her with a curious face on. "what are you doing" she asked. I pulled the headphones off and asked her to repeat now that I could hear her. "Why, surfing the internet i said, and sending out an email...and talking to my best friend at the same time on Meebo..."
she looked at my desk and stared at the monitor which was displaying my screen-saver, which activates after about 30 minutes of no use. She just rolled her eyes and shook her head....haha.
love this thing!!!

I sometimes catch myself sitting at my laptop and end up using my iPod touch to surf the net so you arent the only one.

Well, let's see. I've got three computers - Mac, Windows (work of course$, and Linux. Yet here I am typing up notes on mi iPod Touch. :)

Cool...but this leads me to the question...can you now surf the internet and listen to music at the same time without running out of memory? The touch I played with at the Apple store would quit playing after about a minute of surfing. Has that issue been resolved?
Thanks.

It's been happening alot to me. I just started surfing and listening to music at the same time. It seems to happen when you overload the IPT with too many touches. Hope the next firmware update fixes this as well as the CoverFlow not updating the album art when played on random.

The touch only adds to my lazyness... when Im sitting on the couch and thing of something I want to look up on the computer, an email I want to send, or something like that, instead of getting my fat butt up, I just grab the touch.
This thing has the potential to take over the PDA/portable computer market. I hope Apple realizes what a gold mine they have on their hands and takes advantage of it and unlocks the darn thing. It is only 1/5 iPod... it can do so much more.

I too hope that Apple adds more applications to the iPod touch. It really has the potential to move in and take over the PDA market but Apple needs to add word document (not necessarily Microsoft Word doc) andspreadsheet (not necessarily Microsoft Excel) editing abilities, editing of calendars directly on the iPod touch, and the ability to at least display presentations (not necessarily PowerPoint). Then the iPod touch would really take over the PDA market as it already has a pretty good web browser (it just needs a flash update but even IE for PocketPC doesn't support the most recent version of flash), it has some damned good audio and video playback capabilities, and you can hook it up to external displays by using either composite or component video.
I hope that Apple releases some spreadsheet and word document applications down the line for the iPod touch, I would even pay for them. I would really like to have the ability to play PowerPoint presentations using my iPod touch as well. That would mean that I could simply bring my iPod touch to meetings and hook it up to our projector (via component video) instead of lugging around my personal notebook for business related purposes.

I've actually been playing music while surfing iLounge with 4 other web pages in the background that I switch to. Music keeps playing fine. I think it depends on the type of web pages your visiting, perhaps. I've yet to discover the combination of web pages that cause the music to start...
