I wouldn't, you never know what i might do. Just use the included cloth.

all the cloth does is rearrange the smuges and spreads them out.... I use the solution on my laptop screen and it wipes away smuges.... i want to know if anyone has tried any chemical solutions on the touch.

From the manual:

Cleaning iPod touch

Use the polishing cloth that came with iPod touch to gently wipe the glass screen and
the case.

You can also use a soft, slightly damp, lint-free cloth. Unplug and turn off iPod touch
(press and hold the Sleep/Wake button, then drag the onscreen red slider).
Avoid getting moisture in openings. Don’t use window cleaners, household cleaners, aerosol sprays, solvents, alcohol, ammonia, or abrasives to clean iPod touch.

I'd say it's perfectly safe. I use lens wipes on mine and it's perfect. If you read that a solution is safe for camera lenses, then it's safe for virtually anything. Camera lenses have the most expensive anti-reflective coating you can find, and if whatever you're using won't harm camera lenses then you can pretty much swear by it.

The fear (or danger, if you will) here isn't regarding an anti-reflective layer, but rather the static electricity that iPod touch senses between the operator's finger and the screen. Some solutions will alter the screen's ability to sense this charge, negatively effecting the sensitivity of the touch-screen.

Most solutions that are anti-static will say so on the label, so make sure that whatever you're using ISN'T anti-static.
