I'm surprised no one has jumped on this already. Apple's released a web application directory for the iPhone & iPod Touch...

Yeah, I also noticed this. It's disappointing they don't have a mobile optimized version though.

Yeah, I thought the same thing. I mean is iLounge can identify iPod Touch and iPhone you'd think Apple would be able to. Maybe it'll be rolled out soon. Was wondering if they'd rushed it out to address the latest jailbreak.

Yeah, you are probably right. They most likely rushed out the release and will be releasing a touch/iPhone optimized version soon. Web apps will stop not stop anyone from jailbreaking their touch, apple needs to release some real apps to even try to stop us from jailbreaking.

I'm not gonna kill myself (or my iPod Touch) just for a couple more applications. All I'd really like to see is a way to make webapps into buttons on the home screen. That'd cover like 95% of what'd I'd like to see. I'm gonna hold out for awhile to see how things go with Apple's NEXT firmware update :)

I am going to do the same thing. When I hacked my first iPod I thought it was so awesome, but after a week or so I got tired of it. This is probably what was going to happen if I jailbreaked my touch. I am assuming that apple will be releasing apps through iTunes soon and I am going to wait for those.

To answer nbabbitz question, no you need to be connected to wifi to use these apps.

Yeah, I am pretty disapointed. I guess it is something to hold us over until they release apps through iTunes to download on our touch.

I'm not disappointed. I think that many of the web applications are great and do a heck of a lot more than I thought could be done with the limitations (e.g. no Java and no Flash).

I guess the question that I'd have is: What do you expect on an iPod? It's a music/video player. The addition of wireless and internet access is a bonus, in my opinion. If you're looking for more applications or a portable office, you should be looking at the iPhone or even a notebook.

well i expect for something i paid 400$ for to be able to eventually give me apps. i think this is more than just an ipod... i have my notebook and i have my cell phone, my touch has the ability to go on the internet so i would think that i should be able to install apps on it....but thats just me i guess

Apple Web App Directory was not what expected, but it's good that they have a nice site with links for iPhone/touch enabled sites.
