Ok, I know there are a ton of videos going around with people rubbing hard objects all over their iPt, but I have this very annoying scratch down the center of my screen which is the result of my phone rubbing up against it accidentally. Now I only see this rainbow colored line down the center of my screen.
I would like to know if this is something my 1 year warranty would cover, or if there are any fixes for this?
Have a look at the following link for a shot of it.

Yikes.
I will add, the Touch's screen is not nearly as hardy as some have claimed. Mine got dropped when I took it into the Apple store to talk to someone about the negative black screen issue, and suffered a severe crack that runs the entire diagonal of the screen.
Luckily, since it was defective, Apple will replace it as soon as they get more stock in.

Ouch! Do you have any other "problems" with your touch that you can use to get a new one?

Thanks for the welcome.
No, nothing else is wrong with it. I was thinking of using that TIFF exploit going around now so that it doesn't sync. See if I can return it for that :P

ouch, not sure why people think the screens are scratch prof due to videos. at best they are only more scratch resistant then the older iPods. never the less they still can and will scratch up.
anyways you might look for a glass scratch repair kit, (like they use on eye ware) this might fix you up...

Good idea. I would first call apple and see if you are able to return it for that. Just explain to them that it will not sync with iTunes. You do not want to waste a trip to the store just to find out you cannot return it.

I used that TIFF exploit on my iPt so it wouldn't sync with iTunes... then took it in for repairs. Since they can't fix it and it is still under warranty, they are ordering a new (or refurb I guess) one for me.
Scratchs all gone! ;)

I do not know why ppl think because they did something to a product that the manufacturer should pay for it. If you scratched it, then find someway of repairing it or live with it. Apple should not have to pay to have it replaced because you scratched it.
