Hello there.
I've had 2 ipod touches. One was horrible (wk37) - pages would load and load and not go through. I called AppleCare, and after troubleshooting, they told me it needed to be looked at for repair. I told them I'd take it back to Best Buy, and I did.
Bought a Wk 38 from C. City. Wifi is a "Tiny" bit faster, but I'm having major email issues.
I have a real problem accessing emails in yahoo. Some open, some don't, some load, some don't, and FORGET about replying and making an email. Not gonna happen.
What am I doing wrong???? No one seems to be having this issue?? If not, is it something I'm doing wrong?
PLEASE help.....I'm ready to take this one back and forget about the touch.
Oh, and just for the record....the 37 screen was much brighter than my 38 is. Part of me thinks I should take it back, wait until after the holidays when they get all the bugs worked out. What do you think??
Thanks!

where are you accessing the wi-fi from? i've found that from certain public places the wi-fi is lousy and trying to load gmail is a waste of time. if it's at home, then maybe you need to check your wi-fi settings - is it on DHCP?
btw welcome to the lounge :)

Gmail works fine for me. I even post on this board quite often directly from my iPod Touch using Wi-Fi. Have you tried Yahoo Mobile? http://m.yahoo.com/start Seems to work pretty well for me.
In terms of your Wi-Fi, there are quite a few thread on this board with things to try (e.g., putting your iPod Touch in your DMZ, etc.). Might look around a bit for those.

My touch is currently on DHCP.
I'm trying to access at home, where 2 laptops have no issues.
I'm not that computer/tech savvy, so any direction would be appreciated.
As far as other wifi threads, I have looked there, and no one seems to be having the email issue I am.
I belong to a yahoo ipod group and tried to reply to an email....forget it....never would go through.
Its just very frustrating, and I don't know how to "tweak" anything I may need to, to get this thing running right. Aside from this issue, I love the touch, but I don't want to throw in the towel yet in case its something I'm doing wrong.
As far as that yahoo goes....what does that mean? Is it another yahoo program?
Thanks,
Crickett

have you tried other wi-fi spots so you can at least narrow it down to where the problem is? just because your laptops are fine, doesn't mean the ipod and router like each other.

I'm going to stop by Starbucks this afternoon and see what happens there.
I'll get back to you.....I have a Time Warner Modem and Netgear Router....not sure if any of that makes a difference. We'll see.
Thanks,

I think you have to pay for access at Starbucks. If you go to www.wififreespot.com for a list of free wifi access in your area.
As to the Yahoo Mobile, its just a version of Yahoo (including email) designed for mobile phone. Nothing to install - just go to the website and you should be able to get into an optimized version of mail. Seems to work pretty well.

I don't know what I did. My wi-fi worked perfectly anywhere that had wi-fi, including my home. Then, I asked the tech guy at my school to get my touch onto the school wireless network which has, of course, security measures. Well, he couldn't get it on at school, and now, I can't get online with it at home. Any ideas on how to fix it? My home network shows up, but I can't connect.

Here is my deal, most all the web sites I go to seem to work, sure I have run in to some that don't but that a mobile device for ya. thing is this device works better then ANY other I have seen for web. also my gmail works, my web mail works, and my live mail works.
I am sorry you are having issues, but at this point it must be something on your end because not everyone is having your issues.

Ok....Heres the deal...
I went to Starbucks. I didn't realize it was a pay spot. Nonetheless, I tried to connect. I got the the Starbucks page. I tried a few different times. It worked a few times, but then it didn't work a few other times.
I guess its not my home wifi like I was wondering. I'll have to find a free spot to check it out more, but I still don't know why on 2 different touches, I have the same issue.
Well, we'll see....
Thanks for the help,
Crickett
