So I decided to order the new Ipod Touch via Apples online store as I can send it back if I dont like it anyway....
My only problem is that I´m not really sure if there are still some big issues that are not fixed yet but are going to be fixed in the next few weeks. I simply dont wanna go out and buy that thing now and have problems with dead pixels or a bad screen if in a few weeks time I could get one without having theese downsides at all.

Should I wait or is it already safe to by a touch? And btw, what case would you guys recommend?

All of the problems seem to be fixed. I think it is pretty safe to buy a touch. I recommend the iSkin (http://iskin.com/), they are coming out with a case for the touch soon and it looks really cool.

I was planning on getting a sleeve from this site:

and combine it with some sort of film or protective plastic shield.
I guess the invisibleshield is a pretty good choice, but I´m not so sure about the part with the water when attaching it to the ipod. I didn´t dare it when I got my first-gen nano and I´m still not so sure about it now.

The Invisible Shield comes with a water/soap based spray. I used the spray and it was fine, it did not harm the iPod at all. Just follow the directions and you should be fine.

Can you actually see that the invisibleshield is attached to the ipod? Or isn´t this much of a concern?

You cannot see it. But, you can feel it. I actually took the front part of mine off because I did not like the feel of it. It is a personal preference and you may like the feel of it. I still have the back on. I would just buy it and if you do not like the front at least you have protection for the back.

It is certainly safe to get a Touch now, i got mine last week. It's a week 38 and the screen has absolutely no problems and looks fantastic. You should keep it, as long as it has no hardware problems of course which there is a slim chance there will be.

I would wait just because the hard drives are kind of small right now

Have you seen the iPod Socks yet? They seem kinda dumb lol. I ran across them on the Mac Mall Site. (http://www.todaysaddiction.com/macmall1.php?&abx26=2652651&abx27=10498351).

I agree with everyone here it's for the most part safe. just remember that dead pixels are something working right is always a possibility what what warranties are for.

As for a case i am getting a iclear and some screen protection. I feel that will give me the best protection and keep the usability very high...

I think it is safe to purchase an iPod touch. I did 2 days ago and it works great! I'm waiting for iSkin for my case.

The iPod touches don't use hard drives, they use NAND flash memory which is more stable than a hard drive but less expensive. You could technically start playing music on your iPod touch and put it in a paint shaker and it wouldn't skip. I don't advise you doing this though but it just shows you the different type of memory being used. That is also why the capacity of the iPod touch is low as flash memory is expensive. A 64GB SSD (solid state disk, basically a PC hard drive that uses flash memory instead of the normal platters) will easily cost you $400.

I think all of the hardware issues have been ironed as Apple is using newer screens so they shouldn't have that negative black affect. The only issue that you may come across is dead pixels. This affects any device using a LCD panel. This means that the 3G iPod nano, iPod classic, iPod touch, $4000 LCD HDTV, $3000 notebook, etc. are all affected by the issue. Dead/stuck pixels occurs due to the way they are manufactured. I have about two off-pixels on my iPod touch. They display every color correctly except they show white as black and black as white. That is it, they show blue, green, and red correctly though. It doesn't bother me given that the pure amount of pixels in the iPod touch is a large amount and you can only notice them if you are really, really trying to look for them. One of the bad pixels is near the middle of the screen and I don't even notice it while watching a movie. Apple will give you a new iPod touch if it comes with three or more dead/stuck pixels.

As for a case, you should use something a bit more sturdy than a sleeve. The invisible shield is nice for preventing scratches but it doesn't do anything to actually protect the iPod. Your screen could still break if you put it in your pocket with other objects and the metal backing could still be bent. That is why I recommend getting the iSkin case when it comes out as it will protect every aspect of your iPod touch. You can keep the invisible shield on there to stop scratches but the iSkin case will give you that other level of protection.

uh. more expensive ain't it?

So I decided to order the new Ipod Touch via Apples online store
so if you already decided to order why are you asking us?

also, the ipod socks are good for protection, even though they look pretty stupid.

I said that in my original post. You trade off capacity and price for getting memory that is more physically stable than hard drive based memory.
