Everything else works fine except for the youtube app. I get different error messages such as unable to connect to Youtube, unable to connect to server, if I get to a movie it may freeze up . What can I do?

Sorry to bring up an old topic, but a friend and I are seeing this same error on our Touches now.

I think Apple "broke" the youtube functionality in order to force people to install the latest firmware update -- and lose "jailbreak" functionality.

But that's just me...and I don't give enough of a flying #### about youtube to convince me to install their latest firmware update.

Thanks, but no thanks.

And from the looks of the replies, I think you people are under the misguided impression that I actually care what you think. This couldn't be farther from the truth. You should not delude yourselves into thinking I actually ascribe any intelligence or merit to anything you say when you make childish, unsubstantiated attacks on me...I just chalk your behavior up to your acting like a 3-year-old and give you about that much credibility.

Tinfoil hats, indeed. Please do continue your ad hominem attacks. Comments like that only serve to show your own foolishness.

JM
(I already tried the youtube fix from limitededitioniphone.com...it didn't fix the problem...)

:( I think you can take off the tinfoil hat now. I've got a jailbroken iPod Touch and YouTube works just fine. It's typically a connection issue from what I've seen... I think Apple has better uses for their time than just randomly breaking apps to make you get rid of your jailbreak.

Oh, clever..."tinfoil hat"...right. That's really useful. Thanks...idiot.

Yeah...keep telling yourself that.

You're obviously too young/immature to recognize the implcations of jailbroken iPods as far as Apple is concerned.

But again...go ahead and keep thinking they'd never do that if that makes you feel better.

WTF "connection issue" are you talking about, exactly? Do you have an actual fix or are you just spouting off? This happens regardless of where we are, it used to work fine, and we haven't changed anything on our Touches or on the networks where we used to be able to access Youtube from the Touch.

I believe there is an issue with the YouTube app which could also be on YouTubes end or somewhere in between. I see this same behavior on both the touch and my Apple TV, not all the time or at the same time. Usually I get part of the video and it stops part way through with no way to get it going again other than starting another video.

Look -- I see you're new around here. If you haven't noticed I'm the one answering people's questions and HELPING them rather than spewing garbage about non-existent Apple conspiracies. Why? Because I've worked in the industry and used Apple and Microsoft products for a good 20 years. Too young? I love that - as I've been out of college for a good 20 years now. Thanks for making me feel young :D Immature? Yeah, right since I'm the one cooking up conspiracy theories to rival Oliver Stone. :shake:

You probably also believe that everything is a conspiracy to get you. Tinfoil hat is about right here. Next thing you know Apple is going to remotely turn off your computer for downloading music illegally. OMG!!1!

Connection issues meaning maybe you're iPod Touch is having problems. Or the back-end (YouTube) is having issues. Maybe you have installed a program that's interfering. Ever think of that? You're installing lots of third-party applications and since these are all from independent developers who have had limited ability to test with all of the programs out there, there is the possibility that one or more programs may cause incompatibilities. It's known in the testing industry as an interoperability issue. I've tried it from plenty of locations, with 1.1.2 and the jailbreak (which I've had installed for months). Many other people have jailbroken iPod Touches and it's worked for them too.

Just because you can't get it to work, it HAS to be Apple. Sorry -- doesn't fly. Do the research and prove it, then I'll believe. Put a sniffer on the line and check it out. Get into the code and look at it. Get verification from the majority of iPod Touch users that have jailbroken. Otherwise, your theory doesn't hold water.

Why not look at sparkee's note? What's he saying? Oh, yeah - it's INTERMITTENT. Does that seem like a conspiracy or poorly developed software and/or issues with the back-end?

Seriously -- go troll somewhere else with your theories. Excuse me while I add you to my ignore list.

your theory is way off, sorry to say. youtube works fine for most users which jailbroken touches. if there were a general problem with youtube and jailbroken touches it would be known since more people would have that problem.
please don't spread stuff like that. I see this more and more. People think that all big companies have nothing better to do than spying on everything people do. just FYI, if apple wanted jailbroken ipods to not work anymore that could be done pretty easily. obviously, they don't really care. I mean it's not really their problem. people paid for the touch. if someone bricks a touch that is jailbroken, the warranty is voided so apple doesn't have to give him or her a new one. so apple doesn't care about jailbreaking. they don't even close posts about it in the official forum. of course you can't give details there, but they just don't care about it.
the only reason for apple or any other company to spy on people would be for marketing-relevant-data. and that's what they do, but that's mostly data nobody cares about.

Look -- I see you're new around here.

Just because I'm "new" (here) doesn't mean I don't know anything. I mean, I'm obviously smarter than you are. I've probably been using computers a lot longer than you have. I can tell that you don't really know anything about this because you fail to provide any details about this problem. Just generalizations..."Oh...well...it has to be SOMETHING, but it's NOT APPLE." That's really insightful. Thanks for answering all those questions for everyone. If you answer everyone's questions to this level of painstaking detail, you might as well not reply in the first place.

Say, Einstein...if you're so smart -- why is it that this is happening now if I have not changed anything on my Touch, nor the networks I use to access Youtube since the last time I was able to successfully access Youtube? Hmmm? Care you answer that one, smart guy?

Well, at least you've been successful in showing yourself a moron right there. I never said any such things. Why don't you stop posting logical fallacies? (There were so many, I didn't feel like going through and listing them all here.)

You have no idea what I have or haven't been installing on my Touch. I haven't installed anything on it since Youtube stopped working. Until the Youtube "fix" I found, but it stopped working before that.

It's not INTERMITTENT for me. I cannot get it to load from ANY location. It CONSISTENTLY DOES NOT WORK. There, I've tried to use the smallest words I could so you can understand now. Happy?

Seriously -- go troll somewhere else with your theories. Excuse me while I add you to my ignore list.

Oh.......no.......not the ignore list....please.......

I see this more and more. People think that all big companies have nothing better to do than spying on everything people do.

Just to be clear, I NEVER said they were "spying" on anyone. Changing how a device receives a service in order to force people to update their firmware is a far cry from "spying" on people. I never even implied they were "spying" on anyone.

Oh, here's a link for you:
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Straw_man

It's just clear from what I've read that they don't exactly care for people opening up the Touch to much of the same functionality as the iPhone.

And I couldn't care less if you don't think that. Go ahead and think whatever you want...don't care.

You know, you need to review this thread. I didn't attack ANYONE here in my first post. I was attacked (basically called a nut case) and I have a right to defend myself against that kind of horse ####.

I added the last two paragraphs to my original post in this thread after the smart-### attacks against me. (Check the edit date)

Lmao you have got to be kidding me.

Judging by the (lack of) depth of your other posts, what I said applies to you as well. I don't ascribe any merit to your little comments.

I don't ascribe any merit to your little comments.

If you truly don't care what other people think, then why do you consistently allow them to bait you into replying? Their trite little observations obviously don't warrant any notice if one is to "ascribe any merit" to your previous posts regarding this entire little slapfight.

Everyone needs to take a chill pill in this thread.

Since none of the flames here solve the OP issue. Closed.

Everyone in this thread needs to consider their tone in responding to peoples opinions, including responses to opinions on opinions. So everyone take a time out.
