I think the reason Apple went out of the way to omit features like adding to calender thru the iPod, and Notes is so they could sell it to you later on. Is this something possible? Can these features be added by an update? Either that or so they could include it in the next generation of iPod Touch. This way someone who was the original touch that might not have upgraded, now might.

If they sell the apps I will definately buy Google Map but it also depends on how much space it takes up.

Depending on the price, I very well might. Ten bucks for Google Maps, in my opinion, would be a steal.

I would pay for a calendar.

I would pay for apps but I would be very selective. The assumption is that touch users wanted all the apps that phone users got, but thats not true in my case. I have no use for stock quotes, and google maps isn't useful unless you can connct in the car. On the other hand, I wish it could download PDFs so I could keep my bus schedules onboard.

I guess it depends on how the website is configured to download the PDF. I think the bus company programmed it so people could open these docs on their mobile phones and such. Clicking on the PDF link on the PVTA bus website causes another Touch page to open, and the PDF opens in that page. Pretty neat!
OR Maybe this is an update of 1.1.1??

Maybe - but to be honest the only things I really want are (1) ability to download PDFs and (2) a simple utility to make buttons on the main screen that just go to websites like Gmail, etc. -- IMO that would be the killer app.

Why would you pay the same amount for an 8gb iPhone when you can get a 16gb iPod Touch?

I would definately pay for apps on iTunes. This could make the touch a lot better and more customizable. I would also like if they added some games, I would also pay for them.

Last week, I wrote about this possibility in my blog.
See here: http://www.expodition.com/wordpress/?p=50
I'm certain Apple will start doing this in 2008 :)
Cheers,
Rod.

Thanks for posting, very interesting. I'm also convinced apple will add apps to iTunes for us to download on our touch/iPhone. This would be cool if you were able to download these apps from the wifi iTunes store on your touch. Hopefully apple will add movies, tv shows, podcasts, and eventually apps to the wifi store.
This would definately make the touch a more personalized device.

sure, but you can't view it offline, can you?
I don't think there is any way to save files onto the flash memory without syncing them through iTunes, so the answer is no.
I would definitely buy official apps for a nominal fee ($5-$15)- especially hoping for a presentation app, Google Maps, IM client, or games. I still think a future firmware update should re-enable adding Calendar events...it's kind of silly that they took that out to begin with.
