Delivery date?

logged in to apple acount and it says 2nd october as its delivery date. Has any1 recieved there ipod touch a day early, cause i really want mine tomorrow so i can get it ready for a trip im going on

Are you saying that the shipment tracker says Oct 2nd or the aple website says october 2nd?

When mine shipped the shipment tracker said it would be delivered on Sept. 21st before 6 pm and I got it On September 20th at 12pm. I would say it is possible that it would arrive a day earlier but I would'nt count on it.

The uk stock is coming from China, tnt have confirmed, Tues will be the del date for me as scheduled.

My tracker says it left Suzhou and has a (subject to change) delivery date of the 11th :mad: which by my rough calculation means it will travel at 27 miles per hour. Am I receiving a hand delivery :eek:

Haha, yeah a fedex person is walking from suzhou to the US :D did'nt you know thats how fedex delivers now? Most likely that is wrong. Did you order the standard shipping or the 2-3 day shipping?

It was ordered with Fast ship, although I guess 27mph would probably be quite a fast ship anyway :-)

I honestly don't think I have obsessed this much over an item I have ordered - ever.

I would'nt worry, my shipment status was'nt even up for almost 2 days. I was really worried but it ended up coming a day early. If you ordered fast shipping and it does'nt come in 2-3 days then I would call apple and complain.

I have gone back and forth on whether to order from Apple, Amazon or get it at the Apple store. I had placed the order at Amazon 2 weeks ago and it stated at the time that it would be here 10/2 with an Amazon release date of 9/30. I logged in this morning and it states a one month back order. I called and they confirmed it. I was very upset. :mad:

I placed my Apple Store order today and just in case went to three Apple stores in NC. They were all sold out, so my Apple online order is scheduled to ship between 10/11 and 10/16. By then I will be Ipod-less for close to a month. :(

Is there any chance Apple will ramp up production to shorten the wait.

I would be highly surprised if Apple did anything to shorten lead times. I am just guessing, but I would imagin that some of the delay will have been caused as a result of the issue with the week 37 units as they may have been removed from the supply chain. As there is seemingly a fix for the week 37 screen issues there may be a backlog of units to fill the shortfall but it will take time to get them back into the supply chain.

If you ordered with regular shipping, they might ship it in 2 days like they did for me, while some who paid for the faster shipping got theirs days later. As a precaution, I'd print the signature release form (from the apple site) and put it on your front door if you aren't available the day before it should arrive. It'd save you a trip to your local FedEx center to pick your iPod up later in the day after finding a 'We Missed You' letter on your front door (I'm speaking from experience.)
