I swapped my 37 for a 38 in the end. Maybe I am wrong but I get the impression that the older models did have faulty hardware but that the fw upgrade was able to compensate for it.

Anyway my new model looked great but when watching something on it I noticed that it had some stuck (not dead) pixels, 1 quite bright and the others not so noticeable, there were 4 in total. This morning I downloaded the PSP fixer video and have run it and now I only have the one stuck and it does not look so bright but it is right in the middle of the screen.

The problem with the video fixer is it is only 50 seconds or so long and unless I am going mad I cannot see anyway of looping it so I have to sit here re-starting it, I hear that these things can sometimes take hours to fully fix.

Anybody know how to loop video? or are there any other methods I can try? If it wasn't in the middle I would not worry and I am assuming apple will not return it for only 1 stuck pixel?

Thanks

Can you use the safari browser and search for the Knox stuck pixel fix? Or something along that lines? It plays non-stop. You'll just have to adjust the display settings so you get more time before the touch display goes off.

Any success stories using this? Been running it for an hour or so and still no further improvement from the initial video fixer I ran.

Do these things take hours or do you reach the stage where you know it will not fix it?

Honestly, don't bother with that. Apple has a 'no tolerance' policy for fixed or dead pixels. I called in support to see if they could do anything, because it was sort of unnoticeable, so I didn't really mind. The representative I spoke to insisted that I send it in for repair or swap it out. He even made me an appointment with a genius. I was floored. I figured they would ignore small issues like that, but they didn't. BEST customer support in the world.

does this work?
i'm on my second touch and there's one noticeablte tiny pixel above the music button on the home screen and then a couple scattered on the mid-right side of the screen. they're all noticable against black backgrounds.

I haven't tried it, but I've heard some say it makes it worse (e.g., sticks more pixels)... use at your own risk...

there IS a difference between a dead and stuck pixel..chances are the one you can't remove is a dead pixel rather than a stuck one.

Stuck/faulty pixels can be fixed but only a small percentage of them will get back to working again. Dead pixels are just that, dead. They cannot be brought back to life and you are stuck with them. Apple's normal policy is that the iPod must have at least 3 dead/stuck pixels before it can be returned. Their policy might be different for the iPod touch though. I can say that my iPod touch has three stuck pixels but they are spread out all over the place and the only time I can see them is when I have a completely black screen and I hold my iPod touch about 1 inch from my face.

Here's a tip. Dont turn the brightness that high, they aren't that noticable if the screen isnt really bright. I notice mine when I tilt the screen and they are seen at extreme angles. Front on they are not there, but when viewed at a severe angle, they become noticable. So weird. But its just the fault of the screen and the cheap construction they are using to make these. All of them have issues. I've went through like 3-4, all had screen issues. I ended up getting my iPod Touch for free after this whole mess. And my stuck pixels arent even in the main viewing locations. Just located on the corner, here and there. Still a pain in the ### cause they're there. Hopefully Apple will be aware of these issues and resolve them with larger capacity g2 versions.

I read somewhere online that only Nintendo had a no-dead-pixel guarantee... Apple needs to do that too...

There is a method called the "Pixel Massage" Heres a link on how to perform it. I have 1 stuck pixel at the bottom of my iPod Touch, where the BLACK dock is. I'm running one of those PSP fixers over and over again. If this fails I'll massage it. :D
