Yeah it could scratch but harder than the regular iPods. I've seen some pictures.

Well, its glass so it will scratch but not like the previous plastic screens. If you put it in your pocket with your keys you will definately have some reasonable scratches after a while. I would put it in a different pocket or use something like the pouch that came with the 5 Gen Videos (thats what I do.)
I also have an Invisible shield on mine, it's great I really recomend it.

No. Keys will not scratch it. Ignore the OCD crowd and enjoy the device.
These dudes took the thing apart and took a key to the Touch screen...and it was unmarked.

"The difference in display assemblies between the iPhone and iPod Touch made us wonder if the Touch uses a glass front like the iPhone. After seeing no official word from Apple, we resorted to a scratch test. We used a key to scratch the front of an iPod Video, iPod Touch, and iPhone. We're happy to report that the iPod Touch came out completely unscathed, while the iPod Video received a large gouge on its plastic front. "

I prefer to believe my own eyes. Last time I was in Best Buy I looked at the Touch they had on display and the screen was noticably scratched. That sucker was glued to the counter, so it has not been carried in anyone's pocket or briefcase. Somehow, someone managed to scratch it.
I also have an InvisibleShield on mine and it looks great, and past experience with this shield on other iPods tells me that THIS will not scratch.

The screen probably won't, but the back DEFINITELY will.

If I remember anything from my Earth Science class, glass is fairly hard, so a deep scratch will be fairly hard to make. Little surface scratches will happen, though.

Well, you can do one of two things:
1. Put it in your pocket with keys and not worry about it. Just don't come crying to us if you end up scratching it as metal keys can even scratch glass.
2. Simply purchase a Invisishield and don't worry about it.
Either way, you shouldn't really store your keys in the same pocket as your iPod (iPod touch, iPod classic, 5G iPod, etc.). Keys can apply forces at strange angles that could cause the casing around the iPod to become damaged and they can even crack screens. Your best bet is to purchase a Inisishield and put your keys in another pocket. Then wait for iSkin to come out with their iPod touch case. That way, you can then clip your iPod touch on the side of your pants that way you don't have to worry about the screen getting scratched inside your pocket.
I don't blame people for being OCD (though I don't think it is OCD to care about a product) as the iPod touch is really expensive. I spent $400 on a device, sorry for wanting to make sure that it stays in enough shape so I can use it.

Once again, I do not endorse this product...I'm not affiliated. I'm just stating this for help bc it helped me so much in the last 2 years. iDrops. Bottom line. Google it. You can drop your touch in 10 feet of car keys and needles...not even able to see the screen. 2 or 3 drops of iDrops and some clean cloth, 10 minutes later, screen is crystal clear again, like brand new. Check it out.
