I know this is a "no brainer" for many of you on this site, but I thought I'd put it in a thread to help out the newbies, or people that haven't thought of it yet.
For those of you who don't know, you can text message people's cell phones by sending them an e-mail. You just have to know where to send it. If you want to text a Verizon mobile phone you write a normal e-mail and send it to their phone number followed by the company's name.
For example: 6195551843@vtext.com
@vtext.com will work for any verizon phone number.
The person will receive the text on their phone and can even hit "reply" and send you a text back which you will receive as an e-mail.
This means that as long as you are online with the touch you can text friends for free, and also receive texts for free.
If you don't know the company or where to send the text just ask a friend to text your email first. You will then be able to see where the text came from.
