View Full Version : iPod touch 1.1.1 update and no more wifi!

I just updated my new touch to 1.1.1 tonight and the only difference I noticed is that Wifi is seeminly disabled.

Under settings, where it said Wifi I was able to go into the submenu and see what networks are out there and try to login to whichever ones i wanted.

Now its grayed out and just says 'No Wifi'

Anyone know about this? Is apple allowed to just disable my wifi? Is this because I dont have an itunes account or some crap?

Can't you just tap on the WiFi option at the top of the list page to 'On' or 'Enable' it?

And fwiw, I don't have an iTunes account but everything is fully functional on my touch (even after 1.1.1 update).

Unfortunatly no, before the update I could do just that, and turn the wifi on and off, etc.. now its just grayed out and I cant get into the wifi sub-menu anymore.

This is getting frustrating. I guess its just my unit, but I wonder why it would affect mine and not yours

Don't be paranoid. This has nothing to do with Apple wanting to get you.

My WiFi on my Touch works fine after updating.

This is your issue...NOT Apples.

Geez...egocentrism is an issue here.

Egocentrism? Damn my first experience with a non-sensical apple fanatic. Read my post above... I said its an issue with MY UNIT not all of them. duh. Im just confused as to why a software update would disable my wifi and not other peoples..

oh well I fixed the issue by resetting my entire ipod's settings. scorched earth tactics have to be taken with apple products sometimes unfortunatly :(

I have my Airport extreme set to G only, and my touch says "No WiFi"
Its not just you. have you figured anything out?

Attempt a restore to see if it fixes the issue, if not call/go to an apple store and show them what is up.
