when i plug my ipod into my computer to have it updated( v1.3), it says ipod is attached but not mounted on the desktop. it already is in firewire disk mode, so whats up?

wait..........then after that it says ipod has been updated to v1.3, unplug then plug it back in to complete the process:-/
Are you sure you set your settings to enable firewire mode. I had this same problem until I double checked my settings. If you have the firewire mode enabled you have to eject the ipod manually.

now it isnt even doing anything, it shows the original "ipod is not mounted, but there is one connected", but then it switches to the stats about the ipod. and the only button that you can push is the restore, update is not an option. this happens in both firewire disk mode and not. *sigh*.

I know it sounds pretty cheesy, but reboot your Mac and try it again. It worked for me when I had that problem last week.

If your iPod is still under warranty call apple, they can walk you through it call 1-800-275-2273. Hope they can help.

it lives!!!!!!! i restored it and now its fine. weird.
