Problem playing albums

I just got a 16G ipod touch. When I try to play an album (no playlist), at about every third or fourth song, the ipod plays half or a little more of the song and then stops abruptly. It then starts playing the next song in the album.

Needless to say this is very annoying - anyone else have this problem?

are you browsing safari while doing this? It could be a memory problem.

Just turned wireless off - same problem. No timer/alarms set either.

I had the touch connected to a windows vista machine. Itunes said the touch needed restoring nearly every time I connected it and sometimes the restore would fail with an "unknown error" unless I did a full reset of the touch first.

I talked to ipod tech support and after much time trying things, the problem seemed to be vista. I moved the ipod to an XP machine and all the problems went away. The touch now plays songs all the way through and doesn't need restoring constantly.

Apple tech support has the problem open and is working on it.
