Importing iPhone to UK

Hey guys!
Sorry if this question has allready been ansewred before but i have looked and couldn't find anything...

If i was to buy an iPhone off eBay from a US seller and have it imported to the UK,
Would VAT/TAX be added to the cost of the phone?

You only pay for the price of the iPhone on ebay. The buyer will then mark it as a gift so it gets through customs and you avoid paying anything.

Mine cost me £275 from eBay and I love it :D
