WTF Week 38?

What's so good about Week 38? What is it? Why is it a big deal? o.o

By the way, I noticed that the official Apple website (ever since September 5th) had their boxart display with Macy Gray on it.

The iPods that came out early had that Corinne gal. Maybe they were the cheap early units, and the Macy Gray ones are the real deal.

Aren't week 38s the Macy Gray iPod touch's?

You know what, iLounge may need to retest their iPods.
Perhaps the REAL ones (in theory, the Macy Gray week 38 iPods) have better than promised battery life like the other iPods.

Doesn't Week 38 have Macy Gray? All the ones I've seen so far have Corinne.

Like has been said before on here and in other forums week 36's were the first ones to come out and they pretty much all had bad screens. Week 37's were the next to be shipped and some have problems and some don't. It is believed that the screen problem was fixed sometime in the week 37 days. The week 38's which is what should be shipping now have all pretty much had perfect screens with no black problems.

i ordered mine on the 8th of september and its shipping on the 28th would it have the problem too??

Most likely no. It looks as if the problem has been corrected. People are no longer reporting that their iPods are defected. Generally, everyone who's getting them in or who has bought one within a day or two are pretty happy. They are coming flawlessly. Macy Gray boxes pretty much look like the next batch. Mine just got "Prepared to ship" today. I am confident that it will be a Macy Gray box, as many of the preorders coming in now are already week 38 Macy Gray boxes with gorgeous displays.

EDIT: Looks like you beat me to the pic, Dogenzaka. It hasn't been confirmed by Apple as true, but more of a general consensus with the public on here, Macrumors, AppleInsider, and Apple.com.

Yea, no problem. It looks like the preorder shipments are being processed randomly. I ordered mine within hours of its release, some people ordered a few days ago and got their's first. It's all good really, because I'm sure they are coming in perfect condition and in most cases, before next Friday.

hmm.. I wonder if I should exchange mine now or not from the Apple Store. I have Week 37 version and does have a slight black color problem, but it's nothing like some people have had. How does Apple usually handle things like this?

Yeah, sorry for sounding uncertain, just never dealt with Apple before (Never owned an iPod until now), and their return policy seems a bit skewed from the rest of the places I've ever shopped/worked.

I'll probably call the store tomorrow morning since I live an hour away and see if they have any in stock or not.

On the back of the box, it's the products serial number.. You'll see it starts with 9C737 or 36 or 38.. That's the number you want to look at.

To clarify...
1. Preorders started arriving on people's doors yesterday morning. I ordered mine (engraved) on the 11th and received it yesterday, the 20th, at 9:00 a.m. It was direct shipped from China.
2. Early week 38s have either Corrine Bailey Ray OR Macey Gray. If you see a Corrine, don't just look at the box, look at the number.
3. Late week 38s have Macey Gray.

I have a 38 with Corrine. So far, so good. The screen seems fine. Also, I don't understand about folks complaining that the transfer is slow. Mine's about as fast as my mini, 2nd gen nano or shuffle. I think the perception of "faster" enhanced 5th gens is mostly due to the amount of contiguous free space, not that they're inherently faster.
