I looked at some videos on youtube and they said you can watch only featured videos. For the iPod touch, can you search any videos?

Short answer: no.
Long answer: soon. YouTube offers only a subset of their content in iPod Touch/iPhone compatible format, but they're adding new stuff and converting old at a rapid rate. It won't be long before everything's there, there's just going to be a delay as they ramp it up.

So that means there might be a new firmwares right?

No, it's not a firmware thing. It's something that YouTube is doing on their side. All it means is that as time goes by, more and more of the YouTube videos become available through Touch/iPhone. It happens instantaneously as they add compatible content on their side.

But is there a search function on the Iphone/Ipod Touch currently? If not then it needs a new firmware for it right?

There's already a search built into the application. You can see YouTube videos by Most Viewed, Most Recent, Top Rated and Featured. There's also a History view that shows you what you've already watched, a Bookmark view for saving linkage to specific videos and a search option for finding specific titles. It's a nice application.

If it required a new firmware update to see newly converted videos, you would have every youtube video on your ipod touch. The way you connect to youtube on your touch is thru wi-fi internet, and since the internet changes by the second, you will see new vids on there as soon as the youtube people put them up.
And the search function is at the bottom right on the touch.

Wait, I am confused - can you, or can you not, search for ANY video that has been converted?

I have an iPhone and have used the search function to look for videos on YouTube. They will play for the few I've tested. I haven't found any that would not play so far but this has been mostly music videos I've viewed.

Yes of course you can. As long as the video has been converted to play on the iPhone or Touch, it will show up when you search for it.

Not sure I understand the reply.
I have searched some obsucre stuff on my iPod Touch and got plenty of results back.
Certainly stuff that isn't "Most Viewed" or "Features", etc.
I'm talking about scenes from old movies (Vanishing Point) and SNL.
I would say the answer is yes, you can get the same videos that you can get from the web.
Don't believe me?, give me an example and I'll try it out.
You can even reach YouTube on Safari and when you select the video, it launches the YouTube player automatically.

I don't think all of them have been converted quite yet, but many, if not most, have.
For example, when I search "iphone 1 yr old" on youtube from safari, I see 2 videos for "iphone used by 1 year old", part 1 & 2. However, I can only find the 1st one when searching from the youtube application from my iphone.

Well I did notice that some things that were blocked. My pervy friend asked me if you could get adult/nude videos on the iPod Touch. I searched for it and could not find one thing. Is Apple censoring content now?

As I understand it, there's a large and ever growing number of YouTube videos that work with Touch and iPhone but not ALL of them have been converted yet. Seems to me that we would have heard something if the entire library was converted now.
