No sound in right earbud (Sennheiser CX300)

My sister was using my earbuds and when she brought them back I could only hear out of the left. The wires in the right cord feel tangled inside the rubber. Is there anyway to salvage them or am I screwed? :(

Are they from eBay (hence probably not genuine) or from an authorised reseller? If the latter, I've read here that Sennheiser are very good with regards to warranty, seemingly even when the warranty has expired... :)

what would be a reputable dealer to get these from? reason i ask is that i'm looking at purchasing them myself.
