iPhone vs Touch iPod sound quality?

I noticed some messages stated that new generation iPods have improved sound quality. Can somebody confirm that iPod touch is better than iPhone?

I actually heard that the iphone is indistinguishable in sound quality from the ipod nano so perhaps the sound quality for iphone is the same as the touch or similar. Then again, with all the talk of the touch using a different quality screen than the iphone has me wondering. Someone who actually owns a touch and an iphone will post soon I'm sure.

Actually I got a report that iPhone is clear winner in sound quality comparing to new iPod classic and nano. iPod touch seems to have the same quality as iPhone. It is quite surprising when iPhone wins over classic iPod in sound quality.

I wouldn't be surprised if the iPhone is better quality. The iPhone is a new product so Apple probably wanted to get it right and use higher quality components so less were returned as faulty. Maybe it is just me, but the first iPod I got is much more reliable than recent iPods. The iPod market is an established market, so there is room for error. When the iPhone takes off and drops in price even more, then the quality will probably go down.
