Just like American iPhone. No 3G. It's the exact same phone. iPhone 1.0. The only difference is that you can buy it in the UK and use O2 as your carrier.

According to Jobs they're hoping to have 3G chips that are power efficient enough to use in iPhone by "later next year".

It's kinda sad that it isnt 3G yet, my LG Muziq is 3G and is running on an awesome battery life, only one notch down after about 12 hours and 1 hour talk time

How is that a valid comparison? the LG Muziq is a flip phone with a screen about the size of two postage stamps. iPhone has much larger power consumption due to its larger screen and broader range of functions. Apple has to cut something to achieve a reasonable amount of talk time. Right now their strategy is to hype Wi-Fi for speed and EDGE for broad coverage. Between the two (they claim) you get better service than 3G offers (since it's slower than Wi-Fi, or so the admittedly spurious argument goes).

Haha, 2 stamps, right

Remember that it's got an FM transmitter and a speaker for output as well as the audio jack output.

Dont get me wrong, I love the iPhone, I just wont upgrade to it til it goes 3G, and it should be already

Well they can keep it - not only for no 3G but the price plans are way too expensive for this user.

£265 for the phone and then a 18 month contract at O2 iPhone £35 / O2 iPhone £45 / O2 iPhone £55

I'll stick with my PAYG Samsung.

Just for comparison, the iPhone UK would cost $528 for it alone, near original price.

Monthly prices would be $69, 89, and 109 every month for service

The iPhone's screen is practically bigger than the WHOLE LG Muziq. There's really no comparison between the screens in terms of size. Additionally, the iPhone is a touch screen. You may have heard about that. Also, iPhone has a Bluetooth and a Wi-Fi transmitter in it, as well as a speaker for audio output. If you're honestly claiming that the LG is just as resource intensive as the iPhone you're really barking up the wrong tree. There's no direct comparison between the two devices. The fact that the LG has decent talk time with 3G has very little if any bearing on how 3G would play out in iPhone. Nice attempt though.

My Muziq has Bluetooth and everything as well, minus the Wifi though, but it isnt needed through the 3G network.

I'm just saying that it's a better value at the time to buy a Muziq until Apple can fix the iPhone to be just a bit better

There may still be rumours of a 3G phone on the horizon for continental Europe, which might also explain why they only announced for the UK today.

North American consumers should keep in mind, however, that a 3G European phone will likely be European 3G only. They run on different frequencies for their 3G than North America does, and Apple may not have sufficient motivation to add dual-band HSDPA.

"Better value" is subjective. It's a better value for people who don't want an iPhone. For those that do, it's not better at all.
