nano 3G Video Problem - Error 1418.... caused by DVD Ripping..any others having prob?

i bought a new nano to replace my old 2G... I came home and loaded it with music, tv episodes, podcasts, and movies (using DVDFab as the ripper).

my nano froze after 15 seconds... i reset it... tried to restore nano using the utility in itunes... and the message said that my ipod was corrupted.... and sometimes it gave me "Error 1418"

I did everything that Apple Support recommended... and i even uninstalled itunes/reinstalled itunes....

I basically did everything I could for a total of 8 hours trying to fix it.

I took it to a Mac Genius.... of course, it worked on his computer.... and he restored it...

He told me to try loading everything on the nano BUT NOT ANY MOVIES USING DVDFAB... (and any homemade videos that are not from the apple store)...

he was right... but now i'm mad that i can't watch those on my nano (even though i can watch them in itunes)

anybody else having this problem? found a workaround?:shake:

Does DVDFab rip directly to iPod format or did you convert them to iPod format with iTunes? If DVDFab outputs iPod format, maybe it isn't compatible (yet) with the new iPods. Yeah, that's a profound and extremely helpful observation, I know. :)

DVDFAB outputs directly to ipod format... maybe that's the problem... thanks.

isn't error 1418 the same error caused by issues with iTunes that wrecks the shuffle?

I haven't had an error on mine(using Handbrake and DVD43), and I am a newbie at the video portion (upgraded from Mini)...K

i'm having trouble using handbrake.... i pop in a dvd and it says something like "title error" "dvd cannot be copied due to copyright protection"

oh yeah..... and yes..... the error 1418 message is the same one as the infamous shuffle error.
