View Full Version : Setting up a "Proxy" Yahoo push account

Right now I am using a combination of forwarders and different sending / receiving accounts so that I can access any e-mail sent to my Gmail box (forwarded from any other addresses) and still send mail from my custom domain. Here's how it works:

(RECEIVING)
Message sent to my domain > Forward to Gmail > Filter applied (to weed out my own sent email) > Forwarded to dummy "iPhone" account on my IMAP server > iPhone

(SENDING)
Message composed on iPhone with custom domain as e-mail address in account settings > sent via Gmail SMTP server with my Gmail account credentials

I would like to add Yahoo mail's "push" e-mail feature so that I can get e-mail right away. Theoretically, all I should need to do is change my "dummy" account on my own IMAP server to one on Yahoo. However, the iPhone doesn't let you specify different sending / receiving accounts for Yahoo, which takes away my ability to send mail from my custom domain. I have tried setting up a "generic" IMAP account on the iPhone using imap.apple.mail.yahoo.com - to no avail (and I would suspect that the "push" e-mail wouldn't work with this anyways as it's probably being handled by something non-standard in the firmware :shake: )

Got any ideas? I'm cool with making any changes to my setup, as long as:
-I get any mail that goes to my Gmail account
-Any messages I send come from my custom domain.

Thanks!
