Does the Universal Dock's Apple Remote work with the iPhone also?

I am thinking about getting a second dock for my iPhone and I saw the Universal Dock. It says its compatible with the iPhone too, but I'm not sure if the remote actually works. The Dock comes with an Apple Remote. So I'm wondering, can I use the remote to control my iPhone's iPod functions while it is on the Universal Dock?

If not, I guess I'm just gonna go with the regular iPhone dock.

yes, it works. but only moving forward and backward through your music, and changing the volume through the line out (the menu button does not do anything to get you out of your current playlist). and my iphone wants to go into airplane mode when i place it in the universal dock.
