You gotta keep trying to get a good unit...because the PQ (picture quality) of this screen is out of this world.

I decided to do a side by side comparison of the same video running on my Touch and my 5th Gen unit. Oh My G@D...my 5th Gen...which I have used to watch hours and hours of video and film...looked faded, soft and just plain nasty compared to the Touch. I mean night and day. What looked good three days ago now looks awful. My Touch has vivid colors with excellent contrast and black levels and man is it sharp.

Again I know PQ...have several HD PJ's and a plasma. I'm telling ya...the PQ of the Touch screen is outstanding. The increase in size perception is also far greater than 1 inch diag would suggest. It looks huge next to the 5th gen screen.

Damn I love this gadget :)

Or...you now, you could not go through the hassle of having to return and probably re-return the unit and just wait about a month until the QQ issues are fixed and/or pick up an iPhone and unlock it, because those things aren't having any issues. I have one, and love it. It's also superior to the Touch in a few very small ways, i.e. dedicated volume buttons, which means you don't have to wake your iPod up each time you want to turn it up/down, and, if you use the included earbuds, you can pause/skip sings without turning it on either.

Oh yeah, it can make calls too...

My point is that getting a good Touch is worth the wait.

As far as the iPhone...I have now had an opportunity to compare my Touch to three iPhones of various friends and neighbors...screen PQ on the Touch (on mine) is noticably better with richer color saturation and noticably better contrast. Sharpness appears to be equal. I do agree with you on the volume button. That slider on the touch is the worse part of the device (IMHO)

Also I need 16 gig...8 gig will not cut it...plus the thin design works for me.
