It'd be nice if someone uploaded that exact scene to YouTube so that we can actually do the comparison with the unit itself.

I don't understand. Is this trying to make the iPhone or the iPod touch look bad.
They don't seem worse than the other, they seem different. I don't get it.

It's all about the angle. After trying a bunch of different videos, I can get the negative black effect if I tilt the iPod slightly up. If I'm using it head-on, I don't notice any issues.

I find the negative black really bad when watching videos on my Touch.
If I look at it head on, most of the blacks are negative. I have to tilt the iPod away from me to reduce the blacks. This is probably one of the worst negative blacks I've seen on an LCD.

Yup...you got a bad unit. On mine...head on I get vibrant, rich colors with deep blacks...great PQ. If I tilt it...I still get good quality...just lighter blacks.
You need to exchange for a new unit.

Not for everyone. Here's my video comparison. On regular bright episodes it looks just fine, but in dark shows it is very obvious. The clip here is from Firefly which is a dark series and really emphasized how poorly this handled blacks. And it has nothing to do with angles

That is nasty. My Touch has never produced anything like that even watching the darkest, blackest scene.
