Look for this Video through Youtube on your iPod Touch:

Silence of the Lambs scene 2
http://youtube.com/watch?v=gyP8kEiHKxA

If you can't see crap, you know you've got a defective screen :(

For maximum effect, watch the video in the dark.

So what do I do if I have a defective screen?
If I take it back with Apple and say "I have a defective screen" they won't believe me >_>

yes, I compared viewing it on my laptop to viewing it on the ipod touch. I can't see doo doo on ipod touch, but at least I can make out what's happening on my laptop.

@dogenzaka: well, at least you have proof if you bring up that vid....

Thanks prinny, i for one thought i had a good screen, then i watched that video and can see what everyone is complaining about. Its a dark video none the less but i could make out the scenes on my laptop. I personally (and this may be an extreme statement) believe that no ipod touch user out there has a perfect itouch, they may just think they do.

Personally, I would sit at one of their iMacs, open up the web browser, open up these forums and that link, ask an Apple representative to come to me, and ask him for an exchange showing him the videos and links. I just worry that possibly, they will deny it, and deny me a refund or replacement >_>

depending on how i hold it, it's either horrible or fine. just like my 5.5g. i really think folks here are expecting too much. this is not a $2k plasma. and even those have issues during the day with glare, etc. i'm still very happy with mine.

I was worried about dealing with apple too, so i got another iPod from best buy. U can return it in 30 days, even opened, for a full refund. Apple only gives u 14 days and a 10% restocking fee if its open...$40 for a 16gb touch.

@sberger,
im normally not that picky, but if viewing the screen directly is already problematic, that's where I draw the line.

EDIT: On my iPod Touch, looking at the screen at any angle except from below the screen produced the negative black effect. Even when viewing below the screen, it only improves by maybe 25%.

Yeah - if I angle the screen up a bit I get a dramatic negative effect. However at the normal viewing angle, it appears to be fine.

Just tried this out. In certain angles it is most definitely not watchable, but angled to where it would only me be watching it, it shows up just fine.

I agree, the scene is dark but I think it looks okay. But I am disappointed with the viewing angles on the the iPod touch. You have to be looking at it directly or else it doesn't look good.
