was messing with alarms..and while selecting sounds they were going off(previews)..and i thought they were form headphones..i take them off and unplug..and they are playing loud and clear outside the ipod...could this mean possible future speaker for music???

also..there is a bug..the alarms wont play when alarm goes off..grrrr

As for the speaker, thats a tiny (and by tiny I mean low quality) internal speaker that is intended just to play the Alarms. This is just like the internal speaker found inside computers that beeps when there is a system error/message.

So, no, its not for music. Even if you could play music on it, the quality would make your songs sound terrible.

Can you explain what you bug is?

I'm glad to hear it does have an internal speaker through.

thats really odd, try removing the headphones, and see if the alarm plays....

^tahts what i mean...the sounds go off without the headphones when i test them...but even with headphones off..when the actual alarm goes off...it just says "alarm" and no sound...haha what kind of alarm is that??..i dont plan on sleeping with headphones..nor i hope anyone else does...lol

That doesn't answer anything. Would you use a PC built-in speaker to play a goofy YouTube video or listen to an audiobook? Sure, why not.

The Touch is a great device for sharing or showing off. So an internal speaker makes perfect sense because iPods are no longer about only playing high-end music.

The internal speaker on a PC, and on the iPod touch, is a low quality (8bit?) speaker that can not properly play music. It can emit beeps, and low bit rate sounds such as more beeps. :D

I had the same problem. When the alarm goes off, it only goes off visually. I and figured that it was because I was using the device at the time. Then I set another alarm for the morning and it still only went off visually.
