I've been playing with my 16GB touch from Best Buy. I also see the problem with video, esp in dark scenes or when there are dark areas. However, I only notice this on videos loaded via ITunes. When I look at vidoes on youtube, I don't see the problem. I realize that youtube is a special player, but it seems to me that it is not the hardware, since you tube videos look better.
Anyone else noticed a different between youtube and other videos?

Videos on Youtube tend to lack in contrast, so it's hard to tell.
My home screen has the same effect, you just don't notice it as much because who cares about the background?
I think it's a hardware issue.

So you mean that the homescreen has that negative effect too? I hadn't heard that before.

I agree. I actually checked into this myself and while the ghosting is less severe in YouTube, it's still there. The difference is mostly due to the low quality/contrast of YouTube videos.
