I guess I got lucky or something. Mine actually has no dead pixels. I did the dead pixel test, I recommend all Touch owners take it. To take it, point Safari on your touch to http://iphonedpt.awardspace.com/

two but they're not so easy to notice so i'm going to keep it. cheap chinese crap is why. i have zero dead pixels on my Dell LCD and my Sony LCD. Apple likes to buy cheap crap parts though so they still suffer with dead pixels - something production technology at higher end facilities pretty much did away with a year or two ago.

Okay so I did the dead pixel test on the appleservedup.com website or something but after I did the test I suddenly noticed what seems to be dead pixelS! im not quite sure if theyre just ust particles but i ve never seen them before when I first received my touch and im very strict with my stuff.

Here are some pictures of it, but I can't really tell the difference between a dead pixel and possible dust particles looking like dead pixels, I at least found 4 im pretty sure of.

The images are pretty large, both resolution and filesize.

I took shots with different angles to show some dots you dont always see clearly, all of these dots are really annoying and just for this I'm taking it back probably tomorrow, although I can't let go of it..:( and im afraid it's gonna take forever till I get a new one but I'm not settling for this since I've been having a lot of problems with my touchscreen as well, though that was fixed by a hard-reset.

Let me know asap so I can send it asap :)

Thanks!

Try this website it does not work for everyone but its worth a try. It flashes different colors over and over again to try to get the stuck pixels "unstuck."

you mean www.appleservedup.com?

that's what i did the first time and then I started getting the stuck/dead pixels.

I've redone it twice now and it's not helping...could it be that the test could make them stuck? i also tried a hard reset again and that didnt do the trick either.

Alright I tried that one too but it didnt help either, did it for about 5 minutes with rotating the touch for portrait and landscape...still stuck. Man this sucks since it happened after the first time i did the test from the appleservedup.com website...

So I suggest to the people who don't see any stuck/dead pixels on their touches that they don't do the test since it just might make them stuck.

I'm lazy today so I'll bring it to the Apple store tomorrow, give it a proper goodbye... heh

There is no logical reason that displaying an image on an LCD would make a pixel die/stick.

There is nothing special about the test other than the image is a solid RGB color displayed for 10 seconds to allow the user to examine the screen for dead/stuck pixels.

DO NOT use the dead pixel fixer video. I used it and it gave me like 8 or more extra stuck pixels.

You sure about that? AFAIK they allow less than 5 dead pixels on iPod screens...

Apple and many other vendors have policies stating how many dead or stuck pixels are acceptable. Do a search on Apple's site and you should be able to find the doc. Acceptable used to no more than 8-10 dead pixels or 5 within an inch or so. That may have changed though.

10 dead pixels on a 42-inch plasma/lcd TV that you can't even see from sitting/viewing distance some people may be able to live with but ONE stuck/bright dead pixel on a screen that is only a few inches in size is completely unacceptable in my opinion.

No matter how much I tried to ignore my faulty week 38 that BRIGHT GREEN stuck pixel in the MIDDLE of the Touch screen was there on almost any movie scene apart from bright white scenes - it was awful.

My week 39 I got yesterday has one dead/grey pixel in the top-left corner right on the edge and if I hadn't done the dead pixel test at appleservedup.com I would not even know it was there - even now I know it is there I do not notice it so I'm quite happy, although it's still a *defective* screen really.

My iPod touch (8GB) has one stuck pixel, kind of a whitish color, so it blends in with just about everything. It's not even that noticeable on black screens. So, I'm not going to worry about it.

How do you detect a dead pixel in your touch?

Look around on the screen. If you don't see any, you don't have any.
