I like to keep the back scratch free until I get a case/Invisible Shield. Since none are shipping for the touch, I just used the front-screen's plastic overlay, cut off the dock cover and placed it on the back. I'm not worried about the front glass scratching as much as I am the back aluminum.

I wonder if Seran Wrap could protect the back just as well as those Invisible Shields.

Saran wrap won't actually 'stick' to the iPod case, it will just sort of cling to it. This is going to result in it moving around a lot, and as dirt/dust gets between the wrap and the back of the iPod it will get some scratches.
The Invidisble shield is a 3M film that is 'semi adhesive'. It basically sticks to the ipod tightly and doesn't allow anything to get in. It also has a smooth finish that makes it less obvious that there is something on the iPod.
I have used the Invisible Shield on my 5G for two years and it's worked great, the iPod still looks like it's brand new.

The invisible shield is incredible. Saran wrap can't compare. The shield is scratchproof and looks flawless.

Thanks, I've always wondered whether Invisible Shields were just expensive hype. I'll just be doing what eclipxe posted till a case is released.
Hm, another question popped up: Will an Invisible Shield interfere with the touch interface of an iPod-T or iPhone?

Nope, not at all.

I'm always pretty careful with my electronics, so I will probably just get the invisible shield to protect the back of the ipod. I'm not too worried about the glass front getting scratched up.

If you bought a 5G iPod Video, use the slip cover case that came with it to protect it :D

At Best Buy they have sheets you cut out yourself from and I got one and it works awesome! It comes with a grid on it so its very accurate. It was $16 for 10 4.5x3 sheets.

You could just brush the back like this guy did with his 4g:

I thought I was being careful with mine, keeping it in the plastic sleeve until I could find a case, but it still got several scratches on the back. I am contemplating using the painters tape until I swap it out for a new one, got it at Best Buy, and have some negative black issues.
