ok heres my dilemma. I have 19 gigs of music and 2 gb of videos. Yesterday i took a look at my library, and took my whole library down to 5 gbs of music that i actually listen to. I really dont watch the videos at all. Now I have had a ipod since 2003 and my library only was at 19gb. Will i be ok with a 8gb ipod touch, or will i need a 16gb ipod touch. Also, i was wondering, when i get a ipod touch, if its defective..can i exchange it , without that 10% fee...and lastly...can i get 10% off the ipod touch if i turn in my old ipod?

well if your library is only 5gb, then you should be fine with probably only that library and almost nothing else, maybe a few pictures?ONE video? ( I don't know how much gbs is actually available in the 8 gb touch). I think you can exchange the ipod for no fee, as it is a manufacturer's defective ans if you show them exactly what's wrong, though I'm not entirely sure. And yes, you can get 10% off the touch if you trade in your old ipod.

Well, in your case, I would manually manage music. I created a playlist called (TOUCH2) which is a playlist of secondary songs I would want on the ipod should I be running out of space.
I created a smart playlist on the touch MANUALLY for songs I havent played before 11/1/2007. That means I dont listen to those songs, becasue I will not have played them in 2 months. THose songs will then be removed from the TOUCH, and I will drag my touch2 playlist over to the ipod. That way i'll have a rotating 4-5 gigs, and the rest will be for compressed movies, howard stern, and of course, video podcasts for flight of conchords and entourage.

So what you're asking is, will the music that you acquire work with the space limitation of an iPod that you buy with your money under your prerogative?
See where I'm going with this?...
