New Nano - charging different from 2g

I plugged my new 3g Nano into my powered usb hub (no pc attached) and it wont charge, it detects the current and the screen lights up but no charging , nada.
Plug in my wifes 2g nano , starts charging , no problems.
Looks like Apple has changed the internals or firmware to limit charging options...

you serious? so my $30 charger won't work? damn you apple. glad I am not getting a new iPod for at least another year.

the computer is good for charging too though.

My car cigarette usb adapter WONT work, my 3rd party ipod charger WONT work and i couldnt control my nano using my mates Altec Lansing IM7.
Apple have really screwed the 3rd party suppliers!.

Oh no! I doubt I'll be able to use it with my iStation when I buy one! :(
Is it true that you can't use the same USB cable as the old one? (that doesn't matter for me anyway as you get one with it - just curious lol)
