My 2nd Gen isn't even a year old and I am not sure how much I like the new iPods. probably gonna wait a bit, plus the sansa view sounds like it could be nice. 16 GB for $200, though battery life is unknown, unless it is as sandisk says 24 2 hr videos in which case 48 hrs video playback that player is a god and I would have to say screw ipod lol. hopefully gen 4 will be better though, or gen 3 will turn out to not be as bad as some are saying.

Unless they've changed the colours by the time I'm ready to spring for a new one, I'm probably going to get the green. It looks like a wintergreen tic-tac :D
I've got a black 2G nano I got last March, if I upgrade to the 3G I figure I'll try something a bit more "fun".

Damn this poll really surprises me...silver being the LEAST favorite?
The black looks like a 80s flake black and the red one isn't red like the 2G..so even though silver is probably the most common iPod Color now I'd pick it if I were to buy one right now.
I'm just waiting on a 16gb nano release..DAMN you iPod Touch!
Wow, so many reds. I can't comprehend it.

I don't think I will buy a nano BUT if I were to buy one I would go for the green :) although I usually go for a black or white iPod (unless it's not an option) but I think the green is nice :)
though I've got my eye on a iPod classic... don't know whether to go for a 160GB classic or a 80Gb classic and a shuffle :D either way if I get these this will be fun - Going to the Apple store tomorrow :D

silver 8 gig... I like the other colors quite a bit, but the silver's as close to the classic "white iPod" as I can get...

I ordered the red one (quite an achievement seeing as the Nano page on Apples site constantly crashes my browser!), should hopefully be here Saturday or Monday. I kinda like the black one too but i think the silver one looks quite bland but i've never been a big fan of silver.

Silver 8GB. Not into flashy colors, and I've already done the black 2G nano. Even though it was matte, it still showed scratches and stuff worse than my son's silver one.

I just ordered the Black one. I was going to get the Red one, but I thought it looked too pinkish (from pictures I've seen).

The colors were a bit too washed out for me. And the black one comes with a black scroll wheel. Very nice.

Well, for whatever it's worth, the green is the only color sold out at my local Wal-Mart.

Maybe they weren't fully stocked to begin with? No, they started with the same numbers. Shop for my groceries there every week and make a habit of browsing the electronics. They aren't carrying the (RED) but had roughly equal numbers of silver, black, blue, & green. As of my last trip, still had plenty of the first three.
JazzyMac
09-30-2007, 11:25 AM
Or they restocked the first three?
Code Monkey
09-30-2007, 11:39 AM
Or they restocked the first three?Possible, but why are you so personally bent to quibble about a particular data point? It took them over a week after the keynote to get any in, and two weeks later it was only the greens that were gone. Whether or not they restocked in the mean time, the point still stands: the green sold out and whether because it was unexpected on the part of Wal-Mart or Apple, they were unable to restock immediately. Spin it however you want, it's selling well.

Not personally bent to quibble, just looking at both sides. You weren't at the Walmart all day every day, so you can't possibly know which one is the best seller. The greens may have sold out and just may not have been restocked because it wasn't high priority. That's all. Besides, you're the one who brought it up because you like the color.

Besides, you're the one who brought it up because you like the color.Wrong, I brought it up because it was a data point relevant to the question. I'd have mentioned any color that happened to be sold out. It was coincidence that the sold out color happened to be the one I mentioned over a week before the store got its first nano in stock. Quibbling about an objective data point (*why* one color is sold out) is where the bias comes in. It does not matter in the least why it's sold out, it just is - that's data.
Interpreting the data, which I did not, is a whole other matter.
However, we can logically infer two equally likely possibilities:
It is the most popular at that location and they stock them at relatively the same rate and frequency.
It is more popular than they or Apple expected even if its not *the* most popular, and their restocking capability lags behind the demand.
What you cannot infer without being biased is that it's equally likely that they're less popular and they simply don't care about restocking them (what you did). That's an inference that is contradicted both by the fact that they were well stocked and now they're gone (obviously someone likes them) and that in a mere two weeks of availability Wal-Mart has already decided the sold out color is a low seller... *That's* bias.

Sheesh, guy. Since you took it all the way there (instead of squashing it), you didn't include the length of time it took for the greens to sell out.
What I did was infer that perhaps Apple was restocking the other colors more frequently and noting in your Walmart (and nationwide) that the green did not need restocking as frequently. By the time you made your weekly store run, the blacks could have been restocked twice over (or they could have received more blacks/blues to begin with just because of nationwide demand).
My first trip to Best Buy to see the nanos up close I overheard a rep telling a customer, "We didn't get that many silvers in". So, if I hadn't heard that conversation and saw no silvers, would I assume that the silvers were a bestseller?

I own a black 3G Nano, and I couldn't be happier with it.
I was in my local Best Buy the other day and noticed that they now had many more black ones for sale than any other colour. All the colours (except red) were represented, but they appeared to have several more of the black Nanos. Consequently, the Nano's price was dropped to $199 Canadian, which is what I paid for mine at Wal-Mart. The week that the 3G Nano was introduced, Best Buy was offering these units for $219 Canadian.
