I have an Alpine head unit in my car that takes a video in. Since Alpine doesn't have native iPod video support, I'm stuck using the video in and not having control through the head unit. So I'm looking for a dock cable for my new 3G Nano that does composite video out and RCA audio. I only have the yellow/red/white cables to my head unit, so no SVideo or component.

If it works with the 5G 30gb Video that I have also, all the better!

i read on cnet that the nano does not have video out capability. you best bet is to try to find something for your video iPod; check the apple online store they a/v cables for the iPod there, and also in just about every electronics store.

EDIT: this is directly from cnet's review of the 3g iPod nano: The bad: We're not crazy about the wider body, the smaller scroll wheel, the lack of video output, and the average-sounding audio quality.

Apple does have a video cable for the Nano 3G.

but it is a component AV cable, and it also comes with a power adapter and costs $50.

Component would be fine if I was hooking it up to my home theater....but this is the car theater. LOL Need composite. :)

I think this Nano is going to have to go back to Costco.

There is a composite cable on apple.com that claims it will work with the 3G nano. The apple dock also says that it works with the 3G nano.
