Hi. i just got myself a new red nano and ive become well aware that its going to be a little while before any quality nano case comes out there... leaving the metal back very very very vulnerable to scratches for some time. Does anyone know anything that could serve as a good, temporary case to protect from scratches? thanks!

Honestly... while we wait for 'good' cases, I threw mine in a generic ipod-like sock that I got at Walmart. They look exactly like the Apple branded ones, w/o the logo tag for about $5 as opposed to $20 or whatever it is. It works well enough to offer protection while the nano's in my pocket w/o adding a terrible amount of bulk.

i went with the iPod socks from walmart also. i put screen protectors on the screen and back for extra protection, and they work great, the iPod is virtually unscratchable.

I am thinking of taking a silicone mold of mine, and then using the mold to make a couple of Resin copies. I will use one copy to be the front, and one to be the back, and make a couple of vac-form clear casings(Which i will cut to shape, and attach with low-tack double sided tape), while i wait for the low-cost clear acrylic versions to filter onto the market.
Bar.

Just got mine earlier this afternoon and I think I'm just going to go with a trusty Altoids tin. Maybe I'll upgrade later on down the road, but I'm tired of paying a $25+ case "tax" with every gadget I purchase...

I had an unused polymer lcd protector lying around from my old iMate Jam. It doesnt cover the whole back, but does a good job of covering the flat section.

It should do the trick til I can get my hands on a decent silicone cover.

Those walmart socks are nice

although I see silicone cases already on ebay
I'm gonna get one of those and just cut out the wheel part (i hate silicone touchwheel)

The Altoids tin is not a bad idea for a temp fix. I used some cotton squares (lint free) to provide a cushion and cover for my Nano. It fits so nicely that I just might drill a small hole to feed the headphone cable through.

Here, here! They make these players small, so they shouldn't really be bulked up with cases. Well, at least that's my approach. I didn't buy this so I could get a good price when I sell it. It's mine and I'm going to use it. I put the shieldzone screen cover on and nothing else. It's going commando!
