Shortening the cable of my Shure E4G in Vancouver, Canada?

One of my biggest gripe with this earphone is the length of the cable. It's simply way too long and I'm stick and tired of wrapping it around me. I'm just wondering if I take it to a professional dealer and get them to shorten the cable if it'll affect the sound quality? I don't want to shorten the cable if it means affecting sound quality, but if it doesn't, I'm thinking of doing that instead of buying the Shure SE420.

It won't have an effect on sound quality unless you stick a bad plus on the end. You could try a recable but I wouldn't do it on IEMs.
