Well it seems my second pair of Sony MDR-828(think that is the model) headphones broke. they are nice and cheap at $10 and better than the ipod headphones that I am currently using. However I cannot help but feel that they are lacking in audio quality compared to what is possible. That is why I am wondering if anyone can recommend any earbuds that are of a good quality for under $100.

I do have one major requirement though. They must be the same kind of earbuds as the 828 headphones I used or as the ipod headphones are. Everywhere I look around here they headphones I see are the ones that go in the ear and block out outside noise. Not only do I need my headphones to not do that, but also I had a pair like that which cost around $30 and noticed that I could only get one earbud to actually fit in my ear properly even though they were the same size buds, when both were in properly I heard my breathing very loudly which interrupts the music and bothers me, and they were never comfortable.

Thanks for any help you can offer.

Edit: The only option I can see that is at least rated by ilounge is the Sony MDR-888 Headphones which seem to be more or less unavalable. the rating says they cost $66 and yet the cheapest place that sells them seems to want $80. I would not mind this if I knew they would last at least 3 monts *8= 2 yrs as opposed to the 3 months I get out of a cheap pair of $10 headphones. However they look even more fragile than the old ipod headphones and I think I might be afraid that I would break them.

Forget what's rated here and check out head-fi.org, where you'll learn what the best value in earbuds there is: The Yuin PK1/PK2/PK3 series. For their price they will not be beat (e.g. PK3s can be had for $35 shipped, PK2s for $69 shipped).

Fang (the guy who handles head-direct's sales) also gives some pretty damn good service. I originally ordered the PK2 in the J-cord, which I discovered was a very odd J-cord. After almost 3 months I still couldn't get used to it, so he exchanged it for a Y-cord model for free, all I had to pay was the shipping to send the J-cords back.

thanks, most people there seem to agree on the pk3 or pk2, I just wish more than one place sold them.

actually head-direct charges $3 shipping to me, I live in the USA. However the website you just mentioned only carries the pk1 and pk2. I have never spent over $10 on a pair of heaphones except a pair of in ear things to block out outside noise which as my first post says, were a huge mistake, so I don't think I want to spend $69+ shipping on a pair of headphones just yet. maybe after my pk3's break.

Note: it seems the free shipping is for the pk2's and pk1's but the pk3 does not get free shipping. personally I am gonna get another pair of 828's tomorrow and wait out until either those die or another group buy for the pk3 comes along, $25 shipped as opposed to $38 is good savings imo.
