I used my 4th gen ipod in the car everyday, and was able to pause and stuff by just feeling around on the face. The IPhon/Touch don't have any kind of feedback. I am stuck in deciding if I want to classic for this reason alone or just go with a touch screen. Anyone else have anything thoughts about this, after using the iphone for a while.

I was also wondering how hard it would be to use while driving. A nice dash mount kit would probably make it a lot easier.

I just got back from the local apple store. while they won't have the touch available on display (let alone for purchase) until the end of the month, I played with a Classic and an iPhone and can confirm that I will definitely wait for the Touch before deciding to purchase an iPod. For someone who has never owned an iPod (me), the iPhone interface is infinitely more appealing than the classic ipod with the wheel which feels archaic.

I expect that there will be scads of brackets on the market soon which will allow easy mounting of the touch in automobiles.

Currently I put my 5G iPod in a little cubby under the stereo in my company car, I feel around and push the buttons to skip a track, etc.

It would actually be preferable to have it mounted on the dash with a little $20 clip or some such. It will also be a helluva lot easier to actually navigate for stuff to listen to with the touch than it is with the scroll wheel... and probably safer too if I'm driving around.

It would be nice if you could hook up an external touch display to the ipod touch. This way you could plug it in, and use your Navigation system or something to control your ipod.
