I actually think it's pretty cool looking. The thing is tiny!

It looks great to me, my kids love them too, and I think they'll sell them by the truck load. Both of my kids love to have videos on their ipods, and now the most popular ipod will have video as well. I think that's a huge win for apple.

It's very small and very cool IMO. My only complaint is that I've really been waiting for and wanting a 16gb nano. I love the small size and weight, but could really use that bump in capacity.

I wouldn't be surprised if they add the 16gb version sometime before christmas. Then I'd jump right on it.

I adore the new Nano also, and am shocked that they didn't release a 16GB version. It would have been something that my credit card would have jumped out of my wallet for. But now, I think my Mini will hold me over until they release a higher capacity video Nano.

May Jobs hear our plea for the 16GB Nano!

No I like it too, was hoping for 16gb but am happy with the 8g but only because I am currently ipodless (RIP 4G 20gb)

On that note it seems that the classic is the only pandering to the ipod owners as it is a reason to upgrade, the nano and itouch seem to suit best people who dont own an ipod?

I will probably be downgrading from my 30GB iPod to the 8GB new nano based on its cool look as much as anything.

I am very specific about what music I have on the iPod at anytime (including tv shows and music videos) and for my use, 8GB is more than enough. I can sell my 30Gb and cover most of the cost of a new nano so it turns out to be a good deal.

It looks okay from the pictures ive seen. I will probably end up getting the blue one.. but I just love the size of the old Nanos.. so cute. But who cares lol. Ill be getting the new blue nano in addition to the older blue one i have now. Just to watch videos.

I'm torn between the 8 GB Nano and the 80 GB Classic. $50 more for 10 times the capacity. The Nano is 2.06" wide and the Classic is 2.4" wide. The Nano is only a third of an inch narrower! Flash memory is more robust than a disk drive. Decisions, decisions.

I currently own a 1st-gen Shuffle (1 GB). I want to upgrade to get a display and support for gapless playback.

Hey i think if you have a big music library or want one.. or if you want to watch more movies and videos then go with the bigger one.

I loved it as soon as I saw it, ordered one straight away! :)

Very tempted by the Touch as well despite the complaints about only having 16Gb, more than enough for most people!

I like it!

It is very cute. I think i'm going to ge the red one, or should I say the "cranberry" one?

Count me in as another who likes the design - just ordered a red one online.

Currently I have a 4 GB Mini, so I'll be doubling my size capacity. I've been content having 900 songs (usually that's about what it comes out to) handy, so storage size has never been much of an issue for me.

I don't expect to be watching movies on the video screen, nor would I really plan on doing that with the standard/classic iPod screen. To me it will be good for the occasional video, pictures, etc., and of course greatly enhance navigation.

It is a tough choice when comparing it against the 80 GB classic, as that is only $50 more. In the end, the smaller size wins over for me.

Anyways, I'll be sure to add my report once I get it late next week.

I'd buy one if only they offered a 16GB Nano...I'd also buy a shuffle if they offered a 2GB version..but alas apple did neither and the only one I'm considering now is iPod Classic.

i like it, a more comfortable shell to hold and good enough video for tv shows, will upgrade when the capacity goes up to 16GB though

At first I didn't like it much, but after a few looks I'm warming up to it. It's just the old idea of how a nano should be getting in the way I guess. I'll wait for the 16GB though, or a Shuffle upgrade.

16GB Capacity update to the nano otherwise no update for me no matter how sexy it is. To give it credit though they sure do look a LOT better in real life than those stupid digitalized versions apple has on their sites that make them look like little girl toys.

Yes, I caved and decided to pick up an 8GB silver as I was getting tired of waiting for the classic to show up (although I'll still be getting one of those as well).

The device looks weird at first glance, but it really does grow on you. Once you've used it for a while, you start to realize that the new dimensions make a lot of sense, actually, and they're really no that bad. They are, in fact, not all that disproportional to the traditional full-sized iPods.

My only real issue (and it's a small one) is that I wish they had stayed with the 2G style casing. The chrome back on the new nano really doesn't fit in as well as a completely aluminum 2G-style case would have.

Love the casing! (Almost) unique and very nice! :)

I was looking to upgrade from a 1st gen mini, I liked it enough to order a black one last night.
I think the form factor will grow on people, if not, there are other options.

Can you put youtube videos on it?

jhollington
09-09-2007, 10:07 AM
Yes, technically you can do this in the same way that you would have for previous iPod models. You'll have to find a way to download the YouTube video, and convert it if it's not already in the proper H.264 format (a number of the newer ones are, as YouTube has been converting their entire library gradually to the new iPod-compatible format for the sake of the Apple TV and iPhone YouTube players).

There are tools available that can handle most of the heavy lifting for you and just dump the resulting video in your iTunes library, ready to be transferred. In that regard, nothing has changed from the 5G iPod -- the tools still work in much the same way.

I thought that I was the only one who loved it! everything i have seen about it around the web, are just complaints! but i love it! i think its a huge improvement, the 2G nano was just to lanky for me, but this one is just perfect, i love it tons more then my 30GB ipod video. I think that the silver is the best color, the blue and green look too girly for me lol. and the black is more of a greyish color, but the silver rocks! PERFECT! :D

i think we should start an allaince for the 3G nano lovers lol. :)

I love mine! :D I've had the iPod Mini , 1st gen iPod Nano , 2nd gen iPod Nano and now the 3rd gen :D I love it to pieces! The design is really nice and it's brilliant being able to watch videos on it :D

it is fine. I got it as a 'throwaway' for keeping in my car and for travel cuz it's far less theft bait than my archos 504, which is what I prefer for video and for music. But accessories for the ipod are a dime a dozen now as are car mount and transmitter options. I didn't want the clunky car mount that could handle the weight of the 504, so the nano is nice for mobility but not the end of the world if some jacka$$ ganks it or airport security decides to be jerks and take it like they did my belt and coffee.

I love it! The first time I held it in my hand I was amazed, I couldn't believe it was that small!! I mostly use it on the way to school and on the plane (I travel to NYC about 6 times a month) the video is great on it! I usually watch a movie on the plane ride although my eyes feel weird after like 20 minutes. I'm thinking of getting an iPod touch, but I'm waiting to see if apple releases updated ones.
