I have been ripping my cds for years, I have thousands of mp3 files and I have used them sucessfully with many programs. I have avoided purchasing any music from iTunes because of the DRM, it seemed like to much of a hassel to me. I don't have a need or desire to share the music I purchase I have just read far to many posts about struggles others have had when getting a new computer, etc. I have younger kids and they both have iPods and as new music comes out there are some songs they would like to have on their iPods and I don't see a need to purchase the complete CD so with iTunes allowing purchase of non DRM music I think it may be time for some purchases but I have some questions.

1. As long as I purchase the 1.29 tracks once I get them on my downloaded will they be just the same as a track that I ripped from a CD in regards to my ability to listen, transfer, move, etc?

2. ACC vs. Mp3 - I am sure there is a lot of debate in regards to quality, my kids are 6 and 10 so this isn't really an issue, but how about usage. All of my files are currently mp3 files will I run into any problems with ACC as far as being universal in regards to playback. Can WMP play ACC files?

3. Anything else to consider?

Thanks,

Mike

1. Yes, with one addition, as "purchased" tracks as long as you have the latest iTunes, if some of the songs should go missing from iTunes, but are still on the iPod, they fall under the "Transfer purchases" option in iTunes 7.

2. Not enough experience to comment.
