I am getting sick and tired of the limited selection of Youtube videos available for the iPhone. None of my favorites are up yet. If they are ALL supposed to be coded by the fall, wouldn't you think more would be added by now?

No, there is a dedicated icon on the iPhone to directly launch Youtube, not using the browser. But there are only about 10K videos, and most of my favorites are not up yet.

That's what I am saying. U don't go directly to youtube but some site/server maintained by Apple who needs to convert the videos b4r it's made available for the iPhone. DRAGG.

I agree. I have noticed some of my searches pulling up an additional result or two, but it seems like the process of encoding the iPhone-ready vids is going slowly.

I've been using vixy.net to rip some of my favorite Youtube clips to iTunes, and I've got a separate playlist on my iPhone full of those that aren't available for direct streaming. That's the best solution for now--it obviously absorbs some of your internal memory, but it also keeps you from having to wait on EDGE if you're not in a WiFi zone.

I wish I could take this icon off my screen - further I wish all the icons were reconfigurable/hide/show like a BB....

We can hope. Apple may go that direction with updates. No one knows for sure right now. What I'd say is sure is that the iPhone OS as you know it today will be significantly altered over the next 10 - 12 months.

That kinda sucks, even PSP homebrew can watch all my favourite YouTube videos.

yea I think the selection is pretty weak too. I used vixt.net but it doesn't work on every video and it fails on a lot of the ones that "do" work. Very unreliable and SLOW. but then again its encoding streaming video so what can ya say.
