I just had a dead pixel pop up on my screen. The phone is only a week old. I'm also seeing the checkered pattern in the background. Do you guys think Apple will replace it? I may bring it up there tomorrow. I'm really ####ed about the pixel, it's driving me nuts. If they do replace it, I'm going to have to order a new skin too. I just installed a BSE the other day.

dead pixels are usually black or white..not checkered..it might go away on its own..sounds like more of a stuck pixel than a dead one.

Stuck pixels can be easily fixed too, just dl the mp4 file that people use to fix PSP.

one pixel is very tiny, if u can tell that it is checkered then its probably a software glitch. Try resetting all settings, if that doesn't work then restore your iPhone.

ok, that was a little confusing I see. I have a stuck pixel that's going in and out, and I also have the checkered pattern in the black areas that people have been reporting. It's 2 totally different things, the checkered pattern is supposedly related to a contrast issue with certain screens.
I did reset it and restore twice. I'm on my way to the Apple store now to see if they will replace it.

I just got back from the Apple store. They took a quick look at it and said that they have no problem replacing it except they needed the box and I didn't bring it. So I have to go back after work tomorrow and they will swap it out.

The "checkered" screen is just a difference in LCDs. There are two different LCDs that apple used for the iPhone - one has the white dots and the other doesn't. Mine has the white dots but they don't bother me at all since I can only see them up close at the bottom of the screen where it's black.

they didn't bother me either, but the stuck pixel did
I have the PSP fixer but it is less than a minute long.
Am I going mad or is there no way to loop playback on the touch or iphone?

I know that stuck pixels can be fixed using the .mp4 file for the PSP, but can it fix dead pixels? I've had my iPhone for a month now and I am starting to get dead pixels. I had one to begin with but wasn't all that noticeable except for when the phone was turned on. Now that two more have shown up, they are in black areas of my home screen and are very noticeable. Is there a fix for them or do I need to return it to Apple?

You have 14 days to return it to apple. When in doubt, take it back.

I read on another forum that Apple really doesn't consider dead pixels an issue and have even told people that dead pixels are on every LCD screen. So for everyone here who has an iPhone, do you have dead pixels on your screen? and have you tried to get your phone replaced or do you just live with them?

I don't know apples policy, but dead pixels arnt that uncommon. Most companies have a policy ranging from 6 to around 20 dead pixels before a warranty exchange.

When I called the Apple Store where I live and as soon as I mentioned the iPhone and dead pixels I was immediately put on hold and after 10 minutes of being on hold no one came back on the phone to speak with me. So I called Apple Care and they said they will make an appointment with that Apple Store so that my phone can be swapped out with a brand new phone not a refurb like I read on other forums.
