I'm looking for a solar charger for my iPhone and wanted to know about compatibility between iPhone and iPods. Some chargers do not specifically state iPhone compatibility but are designed for iPods. Should I ask the manufacturer which iPods it will charge safely then assume if it will charge a 5G iPod that it's safe for my iPhone?
Thanks!

So it's safe to say your iPod is 4G or 5G? I'm also curious about older Firewire cables charging the iPhone. On a side note, the sales lady said she'd already sent out a solar charger for testing with the iPhone and would get back to me with results as soon as she had them.

Yes it is supposed to charge even with the firewire cables.

I heard back from the company that sells the Soldius1 solar charger for iPods. The tester stated that the Soldius1 does not work with the iPhone. Too bad because I really want a solar charger that will charge my iPhone. I also noticed that the Firewire cable will allow charging of the iPhone even if my Mac Book Pro is sleeping while the USB cable does not allow that.
